80th Independence Day Celebrated with Patriotic Fervour at Sports Stadium Budgam
Budgam, August 15, 2026: The 80th Independence Day-2026 was celebrated with immense patriotic fervour, enthusiasm and national pride across District Budgam, with the main celebration held at the Sports Stadium, Budgam.
The main function commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Shri Athar Aamir Ul Shafi Khan (IAS), Deputy Commissioner Budgam, who was accompanied by Shri Hariprasad K K (IPS), Senior Superintendent of Police, Budgam. The dignitaries thereafter inspected the ceremonial parade, marking the commencement of the day’s celebrations.
The impressive parade was commanded by DySP Moin Khan(JKPS) and featured contingents from J&K Police, CRPF, IRP, Women Police, Home Guards and various schools of District Budgam. The disciplined march past, synchronized movements and enthusiastic participation of the contingents reflected the spirit of patriotism, dedication and commitment towards the nation.
The celebration was attended by ADDC Budgam Shri Vivak Agarwal (IAS), Addl. SP Budgam Shri Sajjad Hussain Bukhari(JKPS), besides senior officers of the Civil Administration, Police, Army, CRPF and other security forces, public representatives, officials, students, teachers and a large gathering of citizens.
The ceremonial proceedings were followed by a vibrant presentation of cultural programmes by school students and cultural groups, showcasing the rich cultural heritage, artistic talent and diversity of District Budgam. The performances, featuring patriotic themes and traditional cultural expressions, enthralled the audience and added colour and grandeur to the celebrations. Awards were presented to the best-performing contingents and participants in recognition of their outstanding performance and participation.
The District Administration and Budgam Police expressed appreciation to all participating departments, security forces, educational institutions, cultural groups and citizens whose enthusiastic participation contributed to the successful and dignified conduct of the Independence Day celebrations.
