LG Manoj Sinha reviews rain damage, orders swift relief and restoration

Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday reviewed the situation arising out of heavy rains, flash floods and landslides that have affected several districts of the Union Territory and directed officials to ensure speedy relief, rescue and restoration of essential services.The Lieutenant Governor spoke with senior officials to assess the impact of the adverse weather and instructed them to expedite relief operations and the restoration of damaged infrastructure in the affected areas.

In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor expressed grief over the loss of lives in Doda and assured that all necessary measures were being taken to assist affected residents.”I spoke to senior officials today to assess the impact of heavy rains, flash floods, and landslides. I am deeply saddened by the loss of two lives in Doda, and my heart goes out to their families. Emergency teams, including the NDRF, SDRF, J&K Police, and the Army, are deployed and on high alert in vulnerable areas,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor informed that key roads in Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi and Udhampur have been reopened, while efforts to restore drinking water supply in several affected areas are continuing.He further directed field teams to carry out an urgent assessment of damage caused to residential houses and public infrastructure to facilitate timely relief and rehabilitation measures.The administration has reiterated its commitment to ensuring prompt assistance to affected families and restoring normalcy in the rain-hit districts at the earliest.
