GRP Jammu detains 10 persons in preventive action ahead of Amarnath Yatra

Enhanced security and surveillance continue at railway stations to ensure safe and peaceful SANJY-2026

As part of intensified security arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026, the Government Railway Police (GRP) Jammu on Tuesday conducted preventive action against 10 persons found moving under suspicious circumstances at railway stations in Jammu and Kathua districts.

According to police, a preventive checking drive at Railway Station Kathua led to the detention of four suspected persons. Following verification, two preventive complaints under Sections 39/128 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) were registered against them. All four were produced before the Executive Magistrate First Class (EMIC), Kathua, for further legal proceedings.

In a separate operation at Railway Station Jammu, GRP personnel detained six suspected persons. Three preventive complaints under Sections 39/128 of the BNSS were registered, and all six individuals were produced before the Executive Magistrate First Class (EMIC), Rakh Bahu, Jammu, for appropriate legal action.

Police said that a total of 24 suspected persons have been detained from areas under the jurisdiction of GRP Jammu during the past three days as part of preventive security measures ahead of the annual pilgrimage.The Railway Police said security arrangements at Railway Stations Jammu, Kathua and other sensitive locations have been significantly strengthened to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims and the general public during SANJY-2026.

The GRP reiterated its commitment to maintaining a secure environment throughout the Yatra, adding that preventive checking, surveillance and security operations will continue across its jurisdiction to ensure peace, public safety and smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
