Rajouri, May 29: A joint anti-terror operation involving the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF entered its seventh consecutive day on Friday in the forested areas of Manjakote sector in Rajouri district.
According to officials, the operation is focused on the Gambhir Mughlan and Dorimal forest belt following specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of suspected militants in the region.
Security forces have intensified search efforts and strengthened the cordon around the dense forest area to prevent any possible escape routes. The operation gained momentum on Thursday after reports of a heavy exchange of fire and shelling in the Dorimal area.
Officials said troops are carrying out extensive searches in the challenging terrain while maintaining a strict vigil around suspected militant hideouts.
The joint operation, codenamed “Operation Sheruwali,” was launched earlier this week by the Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police following intelligence reports about militant movement in the area.
No casualties have been reported during the operation so far, officials added. (KNS
