Srinagar, April 9: Jammu and Kashmir Police has dismissed a woman employee from service over her alleged involvement in a narcotics-related case, officials said on Thursday.
The employee, identified as Police Follower Shameema Bano, had been placed under suspension in June 2021 following her arrest by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Jammu in connection with a case registered under the NDPS Act involving seizure of contraband.
A departmental enquiry was subsequently initiated to examine the allegations. Officials said that after completion of the enquiry and following due procedures, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla ordered her dismissal from service on April 8, 2026, under relevant provisions of the J&K Police Rules.
Police authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining professionalism, integrity, and accountability, stating that any involvement of personnel in unlawful activities will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law. (KNC)
