DGP Calls for Enhanced Human Intel to Dismantle Terror Ecosystem in North Kashmir

 Kupwara, Feb 27  Amidst the heightened focus on frontier security, the Director General of Police for Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, on Friday chaired a comprehensive joint security review for the frontier districts of Handwara and Kupwara, directing security forces to adopt an uncompromising posture against Pakistan-linked terrorists .

The high-level meeting, held to assess operational preparedness and the prevailing threat environment, was attended by senior functionaries including Special DG (Coordination) S.J.M. Geelani, IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi, and DIG North Kashmir Maqsood-ul-Zaman .
During the deliberations, SSP Handwara Sahil Sarangal and SSP Kupwara Al-Tahir Geelani provided a detailed briefing on the current security grid. The briefing covered ongoing counter-terrorism operations, anti-narcotics drives, and measures to dismantle networks of terror financing and adverse elements .
Officials stated that the DGP conducted a “minute” review of existing operational strategies, specifically emphasizing the need for a proactive, intelligence-led approach. In a strong message to field officers, Prabhat called for “decisive and uncompromising kinetic operations against Pakistani terrorists” and directed that the operational momentum be maintained without any dilution .
The DGP stressed the need to enhance human intelligence (HUMINT) networks and technical surveillance capabilities. He underscored that real-time information sharing and seamless synergy among the Police, Army, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) are critical to pre-empting terrorist designs .
The review comes at a time when security agencies remain on high alert along the Line of Control (LoC) and the hinterland. The discussions also included field-level feedback from SDPOs, SHOs, and operations officers regarding operational challenges and suggestions to further bolster the security architecture .
The DGP appreciated the efforts of the district police and urged all officers to remain vigilant and committed to ensuring enduring peace and stability in the region. (KNS)
