FCS&CA Department Organises Awareness Awareness Programme On Consumer Rights
Anantnag December 24 :The Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department organised an awareness programme on the occasion of National Consumer Rights Day at Khannabal, Anantnag, with the objective of educating consumers about their rights and safeguards under the Consumer Protection laws.
During the programme, speakers deliberated in detail on various consumer rights and the mechanisms available for their protection. Emphasis was laid on the importance of proper billing, issuance of receipts, correct pricing, quality standards, and transparency in the buying and selling of goods and services. The speakers highlighted that stringent legal provisions are in place against traders and service providers who violate consumer rights, including denial of receipts, overcharging, sale of substandard or expired goods, and misleading practices. Consumers were encouraged to remain vigilant and assert their rights whenever necessary.
Participants were also sensitised about ensuring strict adherence to prescribed standards and norms during commercial transactions. The programme witnessed active participation from consumers and officials, who appreciated the initiative aimed at promoting fair trade practices and consumer awareness. The FCS&CA Department reiterated its commitment to safeguarding consumer interests and urged the general public to report any violations to the concerned authorities for timely redressal.
