J&K’s Newly-Elected Rajya Sabha MPs Take Oath After Four-Year Gap
Three newly elected Rajya Sabha members from Jammu & Kashmir were sworn in on Monday by Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan, marking the UT’s return to the Upper House after more than four years.
National Conference leader Sajad Ahmad Kichloo was the first to take oath and chose Urdu as his language. He was followed by Gurwinder Singh (Shammi) Oberoi, who took his oath in Punjabi, and Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, who completed the trio.
Another MP from J&K, Sat Sharma, had been administered the oath earlier.
The previous batch of Rajya Sabha members from Jammu & Kashmir—Ghulam Nabi Azad, Mir Muhammad Fayaz, Shamsher Singh Manhas, and Nazir Ahmad Laway—completed their terms in February 2021.(KNO)
