Artisans Registration Camp conducted by Handicraft department for JKRLM SHG Members at Wasimarg, Pulwama

Pulwama, 27/11/2025: The Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM), in convergence with the Handicrafts Department Pulwama, successfully conducted an Artisans Registration Camp for the Women Self Help Group (SHG) members at Wasimarg, a scenic village situated under the foothills of the Himalayan range and located approximately 35 kilometres from the district headquarters.

The camp was organised with the objective of formalizing artisan identities, enabling access to government schemes, skill development opportunities, and market linkages for rural women artisans engaged in traditional crafts.

The programme was held in the presence of Ms. Asma Jan, Assistant Handicrafts Training Officer (AHTO) Pulwama, and Mr. Arsheed Ahmad Bhat, District Programme Manager (Livelihoods) JKRLM Pulwama & other Employees from Handicraft department. All officers interacted with the SHG members and highlighted the importance of artisan registration in strengthening livelihood opportunities under the Mission.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Asma Jan appreciated the craftsmanship of the SHG women and assured continuous support from the Handicrafts Department for training, certifications, and promotional platforms.

Mr. Arsheed Ahmad Bhat emphasized that such camps bring government services to the doorsteps of rural women, ensuring their inclusion, empowerment, and recognition as skilled artisans.

A large number of SHG members from the Village level organisation participated in the camp and availed on-spot registration services.

The initiative reflects the commitment of JKRLM and the Handicrafts Department to promote rural entrepreneurship, revive local crafts, and enhance livelihood opportunities for women across remote areas of Pulwama district.
