On CWC Meeting Day, NC MP Aga Ruhullah Visits Ganderbal Instead of Party Meet

Share

On a day when the National Conference (NC) is convening its Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Srinagar, the party’s estranged Srinagar MP, Aga Ruhullah Mehdi, is in Ganderbal to meet local farmers.

Ruhullah is scheduled to interact with farmers this afternoon at Bunpora, Tulmulla, in the Ganderbal constituency represented by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He is also expected to visit the family of a young man from Kangan who lost his life in the Red Fort blast in New Delhi.

The MP has been at loggerheads with the party leadership on several issues, including the rationalisation of reservation. His office has stated that he has neither been invited to nor informed about any such CWC meeting.

The party’s internal session is likely to deliberate on multiple matters, including the NC’s recent defeat in the Budgam by-poll — a contest Ruhullah notably distanced himself from, as he did not campaign in the segment, a move many believe played a role in the party’s setback.
