Police Commemoration Day Observed at DPL Budgam
Budgam, October 21: Budgam Police today observed Police Commemoration Day at District Police Lines (DPL) Budgam to honour the supreme sacrifices of police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
The ceremony was led by Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS, SSP Budgam who took the salute, read out the names of the martyrs, and paid rich tributes by observing two minutes of silence. Contingents from District Police Budgam, Women Police, 43 Bn CRPF, IRP, Home Guards, and the Police Band participated in the event. Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-din Bhat, DC Budgam, was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Budgam said, “We salute the courage, valour, and sacrifices of our brave martyrs who laid down their lives for the unity and integrity of the nation, safeguarding the lives and property of the people.” He further informed that Budgam Police is organizing various events across the district under the Civic Action Programme in memory of the martyrs.
The ceremony was followed by a wreath-laying and floral tribute by DC Budgam, SSP Budgam, Addl. SP Budgam, Dy. Commandant 43 Bn CRPF, SDPOs, DySP Hqrs, DySP DAR, SHOs, I/C Police Posts, PRI representatives, guests, and family members of police martyrs.
SSP Budgam also distributed gifts among the Next of Kin (NoKs) of the police martyrs and held an interactive session to listen to their grievances, assuring timely redressal of their concerns related to the police department.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by DySP DAR Budgam, Shri Gh. Mohiuddin-JKPS, who expressed gratitude to the families of martyrs and all dignitaries for their presence and homage to the brave hearts of J&K Police.
