PM Modi should have addressed J&K Statehood: Dr Farooq Abdullah
Srinagar: National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Monday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi missed an opportunity to speak about the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood in his national address.“Talking only about GST is not enough. It would have been better if he had spoken about our statehood,” Farooq Abdullah told reporters in Srinagar, a day after the Prime Minister highlighted GST reforms in his September 21 address to the nation. The revised tax rates took effect on Monday.The NC chief expressed hope that the upcoming Supreme Court hearing on the matter, scheduled for the second week of October, will bring positive results. “Not just the National Conference, but every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir is hopeful about the restoration of statehood,” he said.
