Voluntary Medicare Society Concludes Computer Training Course for the Visually Impaired with Support from EnAble India
Srinagar – Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS), in collaboration with EnAble India under the nationwide #SeeAMillion initiative, successfully concluded a three-month Computer Training Course for visually impaired individuals at its VMS campus in Bemina, Srinagar.
The course was specially designed for students and working professionals with vision impairment, equipping them with essential digital skills to enhance their education and employment opportunities. The training focused on enabling participants to independently operate computers using Microsoft Office, access the internet, and navigate using the NVDA screen reader. In addition to digital literacy, the program also introduced basic mobility, note-taking, life skills, and English communication—ensuring a holistic development approach.
The valedictory function was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Mir Mohammad Maqbool, Founder and President of VMS; Prof. Masooda Yaseen, Vice-President of VMS; and Dr. Mohammad Ayoub, Administrator VMS, who felicitated the successful participants and encouraged them to continue their journey toward self-reliance and empowerment.
This initiative marks another milestone in VMS’s ongoing commitment to creating inclusive spaces and opportunities for persons with special abilities in Jammu & Kashmir.
