Rainfall Alert Issued for J&K, Possibility of Flash Floods and Landslides
Srinagar, July 9: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a nowcast update predicting a spell of light to moderate rainfall and thunder across many parts of Kashmir Division as well as Jammu region, including Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, Reasi, Udhampur, and the plains of Jammu, during the next 4 to 6 hours.
The department has also cautioned that intense showers may occur at isolated locations, potentially triggering flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones, especially in vulnerable and hilly terrains.
Additionally, strong gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph are likely to affect a few places.
Travelers, commuters, and residents in the affected regions are advised to exercise caution and follow all administrative and traffic advisories to avoid any untoward incidents.
