Srinagar, June 21:In response to the ongoing heatwave conditions in the Valley, the Government of Jammu & Kashmir has announced that all government and private schools across Kashmir Division will observe summer vacation from June 23 to July 7, 2025.

According to Director of School Education Kashmir, G.N. Itoo, the decision was taken in view of the health and safety of students. “The rising temperatures are severely impacting students’ well-being. Continuing regular classes under such conditions has become increasingly difficult,” he said.

Initially, the summer break was scheduled from July 1 to July 10, but the Directorate has now advanced the schedule by a week, extending the duration to 15 days.

“Given the prevailing weather conditions, it became necessary to modify the academic calendar. The summer vacation will now commence from June 23 to ensure students get respite from the heat,” Itoo added.

The decision has been welcomed by parents and school administrations alike, with many terming it a timely move prioritizing student health.
