Srinagar, May 2 :Strong winds swept across the Kashmir Valley on Friday, triggering panic and causing widespread disruption.

In a tragic incident in the Gansarogam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, a man lost his life after being struck by lightning. The deceased has been identified as Tariq Ahmad Padder. He was reportedly on his way somewhere when the lightning struck, killing him on the spot.

Meanwhile, high-velocity winds over the iconic Dal Lake in Srinagar led to a distressing situation as a boy went missing while on the lake with his father. Locals and rescue teams managed to save the father, but efforts to trace the missing boy are still underway. A large-scale rescue operation has been launched.

The strong winds also uprooted trees in several areas, including near the SKICC road, leading to massive traffic congestion. Authorities later confirmed that traffic was restored following swift road clearance operations.

In another weather-related development, fresh floods and shooting stones in the Ramban area forced the temporary suspension of traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. Restoration work is currently ongoing.

Most areas of the Kashmir Valley, including Srinagar, witnessed gusty winds followed by rain, which caused panic among residents.
