Tral: Tribal Girl Who Resides in Tent Scores 92.6% in Class 12th, Aspires to Crack UPSC

Tral, April 30: In a remarkable display of grit and perseverance, Shabnam Sidiq, a tribal girl hailing from the Kathwad locality of Panner village in Tral, has achieved a remarkable score of 463 out of 500 marks (92.6%) in the Class 12th Arts stream, living in a tent and under abject hardships.

Born into a poor background, Shabnam relayed her own story, noting, “Since childhood, I have faced tremendous hardships. My parents too worked very hard to make me educated. My father is a labourer, and my mother is a homemaker.”

The Student of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Tral, Shabnam, showed great appreciation to her teachers — “Jamshida Ma’am, Shoaib Sir, Benazir Ma’am, and Hilal Sir” — and attributed her success to them. She stated that she never went to any coaching classes and depended only on self-study and class learning.

Her aspiration is to crack the UPSC Civil Services Examination, and she made a touching plea: “If the government supports me, I will succeed.” She also pointed out the hardships she had faced in her initial schooling, including the absence of roads and the long walks to school.

Shabnam ended her message with a piece of advice for other students: “Never lose hope and give your 100 percent to fulfill your goal.”
