J&K Govt Eyes Expansion After Introducing 58 College Subjects

Srinagar, Mar 15: The Jammu and Kashmir government has confirmed that 58 subjects are currently being offered in Government Degree Colleges across the Union Territory.
 
The information was shared in response to a question raised by MLA Sheikh Khursheed regarding the introduction of new subjects in colleges. The Higher Education Department stated that the process is continuous, and a committee has been constituted through Government Order No. 229 JK(HE) of 2023, dated 16 August 2023, to recommend the rationalization of subjects along with intake capacity.
 
The department further clarified that this initiative aligns with the Four Year Undergraduate Program (FYUGP) under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
