Police registers first e-FIR in Kupwara
In a significant development, Police in Kupwara have registered the first e-FIR in the district, marking a step towards enhanced accessibility and digital policing.On 05/03/2025, a complaint was received via email from Gh Nabi Bhat son of Haji Assadullah Bhat resident of Baghaat Colony, Bumhama, Kupwara, stating that while he was not at home, one person [Name Withheld] allegedly set fire to his wooden shed and cow shed. Fortunately, the fire was extinguished before it could spread further. The complainant alleged that this was a deliberate attempt to cause damage to his property.
Upon receiving the complaint, the matter was preliminary verified and found true. On 06/03/2025, the complainant signed the official copy and accordingly FIR No. 60/2025 was lodged under relevant sections of law. The investigation has been initiated to ascertain the facts and take necessary legal action.This e-FIR marks a major step in digital policing, making the complaint registration process more efficient and accessible for citizens.
