Weeklong Workshop on ‘Research Methodology’ Begins at NIT Srinagar
Srinagar, Mar 04: A weeklong workshop on Research Methodology commenced at the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences & Management (HSS&M) at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Tuesday.
The workshop proceedings were initiated by Dr Mohammad Rafiq Teli by welcoming participants from various universities across J&K. This workshop is aimed to provide participants with comprehensive training in various research methodologies, data analysis techniques, and academic writing, he said.
In her inaugural address, Head HSS&M, Dr.Jaya Shrivastava said that the workshop is a crucial step in our commitment to fostering a strong research culture. We aim to empower scholars with the skills needed to conduct rigorous and impactful research in their respective fields, she said.
Dr Jaya said that in today’s world, where technological advancements are reshaping societies, the role of humanities, social sciences and management has become more critical than ever.
“Our department not only complements the technical disciplines at NIT Srinagar but also equips students with critical thinking, ethical reasoning, communication, and leadership skills that are essential in academia, industry, and policy making. Through rigorous research and teaching, we prepare students to address contemporary global challenges with innovative and socially responsible solutions,” she said.
Dr Jaya further said that research is the backbone of academic progress, and its credibility hinges on rigorous methodology.
She also acknowledged the instrumental support of Director NIT Srinagar Prof. Binod Kanaujia, Registrar Prof. Atik-ur-Rehman, and Dean Research and Consultancy Prof. Roohie Naaz in making the workshop possible.
Dr. Tahir Ahmad Wani and Dr. Mohammad Rafiq Teli are the convenors, while Dr. Nufazil Altaf, Dr. Sumaira Jan, Dr. Ajaz Ul Islam, and Dr. Shahnawaz Ahmed are coordinators of the workshop.
Dr. Tahir Ahmad Wani led the first session, highlighting various aspects of research methodology. He said this workshop provides a crucial platform for scholars to refine their skills, ensuring their research not only meets rigorous academic standards but also addresses pressing societal challenges.
Dr. Ajaz Ul Islam conducted the second session. He said the weeklong workshop is designed to provide practical insights and hands-on experience, empowering participants to conduct impactful and ethically sound research.
“This is an invaluable opportunity to delve into the nuances of both quantitative and qualitative approaches, understanding their strengths and limitations,” he added.
