Police Begin Probe After VDG Member Found Dead in JK’s Udhampur

 Srinagar, Dec 03: Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Tuesday that a probe has been launched after a member of the Village Defence Guards (VDG), who had been missing, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Chapper, Latti area of Udhampur district.

An official said the body was found far from his residence and appeared to have been shot. However, authorities have not yet determined whether it was a self-inflicted wound or if someone else was responsible.

“A police team immediately rushed to the scene and transported the body to a hospital for post-mortem,” the official said, adding that an investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of death.

“A case has been registered, and further inquiries are underway,” the official added.
