Snowfall Graces Kashmir’s Higher Reaches, Wet Weather Forecasted
Srinagar, Nov 23: Several upper areas of Kashmir witnessed fresh snowfall on Saturday, bringing a scenic winter charm to the region, while the Meteorological Department predicted a spell of wet weather and a slight rise in minimum temperatures.
Light snowfall was reported from popular tourist destinations like Sonamarg in Ganderbal district and Gulmarg, along with areas such as Zojila, Gurez, Tulail, and Sadhna Top in Kupwara. Light rain was also observed in some parts of the Valley.
Officials noted that roads leading to border areas, including Gurez and Karnah, may face closures due to snowfall, and travelers are urged to follow local traffic advisories.
The Meteorological Department forecasted generally cloudy skies with light rain and snowfall in higher reaches for November 23, with similar conditions expected on November 24.
From November 25 to 30, the region is likely to experience mostly dry weather with no significant precipitation. However, light rain and snow are anticipated from the late hours of November 30 to the morning of December 1, primarily affecting higher elevations. Dry conditions are expected to return from December 2 to 5.
A slight increase in minimum temperatures is expected on November 23 and 24, followed by a 2-3°C drop thereafter. Tourists and travelers are advised to adhere to safety guidelines and administrative instructions during adverse weather conditions.
