Assembly Elections 2024 : 37% turnout in 26 seats until 1 pm; Habbakadal seat lowest at 11%
Srinagar : Voting is underway in 26 seats across six districts of Jammu and Kashmir in the second phase of assembly elections today, September 25. The second phase covers 15 seats in Kashmir Valley and 11 seats in the Jammu division of the Union Territory (UT).
Voting commenced from 7 am and will continue till 6 pm.
The 26 seats have recorded a voter turnout of 36.93 per cent per cent in first 6 hours until 1 pm, the Election Commission said. Among districts, Reasi in Jammu recorded 51.5 per cent voting while Poonch has recorded 49.9 per cent voting until 1 pm. At 17.95 per cent voting till 1pm, Srinagar has recorded the lowest turnout among districts so far, the poll panel said.
Among 26 assembly seats voting today, Surankote, Poonch Haveli and Reasi – all in Jammu – have recorded above 50 per cent turnout until 1 pm, the poll panel said.Habakadal in Srinagar has recorded just 11.1 per cent turnout so far. Khanyar seat which covers the downtown area of old Srinagar city has also recorded around 16.07 per cent voter turnout till 1 pm, according to voter turnout mobile app of Election Commission of India.
