Supreme Court Grants Bail to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in Excise Policy Case
New Delhi ,September 13: The Supreme Court has granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the corruption case related to the alleged excise policy scam. The case was registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which has been probing the matter for several months.
While granting bail, the Supreme Court emphasized that prolonged incarceration without trial amounts to an unjust deprivation of personal liberty. The court stated that unless there is compelling evidence to justify extended custody, such measures undermine the basic principles of justice. Kejriwal’s legal team welcomed the decision, while opposition parties have expressed their concerns over the case’s implications for political integrity.
The investigation into the excise policy case continues as the court awaits further evidence from the CBI.
