Tragic Accident on Mughal Road Claims One Life, Injures Eight Others
Poonch, August 29: A tragic accident occurred on the Mughal Road, which connects Kashmir Valley’s Shopian district with Rajouri and Poonch, early this morning. One person lost his life, and eight others sustained injuries when a vehicle, an Eeco van (JK12D-1910), met with an accident near Chandimarh, officials reported.
The deceased has been identified as Yaser Ahmed, son of Manzoor Ahmed. The injured were initially taken to the Sub District Hospital (SDH) in Surankote. However, due to the severity of their injuries, three of them—Lal Hussain (23), son of Khadam Hussain; Shahid Ahmed (18), son of Abdul Haq; and the driver, Tariq, son of Mohammad Rasheed—were later referred to GMC Rajouri for advanced treatment.
The other injured individuals, all residents of Marhote village, are being treated at SDH Surankote. They have been identified as Zaffer Iqbal (23), Shanawaz Ahmed (25), Nissar Ahmed (22), Maqsood Ahmed (24), and Mukhtair Ahmed.
Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. The community mourns the loss of life and prays for the speedy recovery of the injured.
