MeT predicts heavy rains during next 2-days in parts of J&K
Srinagar, 06 August: Amid hot weather the Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Tuesday predicted heavy rainfall at few places of Jammu & Kashmir for the next two-days, with possibility of flashfloods, landslides, mudslides and shooting stones over vulnerable parts of J&K.
“Intense showers for a brief period with possibility of flashfloods, landslides, mudslides and shooting stones over vulnerable places of J&K, and heavy rainfall at few places of Jammu & Kashmir during next two-days,” a MeT official said.
He said from August 6th to 7th there is a possibility of brief spells of rain and thundershower at few places during day time with spells of light to moderate rain and thundershower at many places of J&K towards late night/early morning.
He also said from August 8th to 10th there is a forecast of brief showers during day time with a spell of rain & thundershower at scattered places of mainly during late night/early morning.
Similarly from August 11th to 13th there is a forecast of brief spell of rain/thundershower at scattered places of Kashmir division and fairly widespread places of Jammu division.
The official said that in last 24-hours the parts of Jammu division received a significant amount of rainfall.
“Kathua Burmal ARG received 117.5 mm rainfall, Reasi 45.5 mm, Udhampur 101.6 mm, Jammu AWS 48.2 mm, Samba 30 mm,” he said.
