J&K Political Parties to Meet in Jammu on August 7
Sources that the agenda includes integrating the J&K police into the Ministry of Home Affairs budget, enhancing the powers of the Lieutenant Governor, and discussing the upcoming assembly elections.
They said that expected attendees include the Apni Party, People’s Conference, National Conference, People’s Democratic Party, Congress, Awami national Conference (ANC) and other significant parties. It will be the first unified meeting of these political parties since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
Following the removal of Article 370, regional political parties in J&K formed the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration, with the Apni Party not participating in the alliance.
CPI(M) Leader M Y Tarigami Confirmed that the parties will meet in Jammu on 07 August at 10:00AM at Radisson Hotel Jammu.(KNS)
