Anantnag: The Kokernag Development Authority (KDA) here in Anantnag district turns out to be a numb department as the department fails to act against the illegal construction violators here at tourist place Kokernag.
According to official sources, huge illegal construction is going unabated here at tourist place Kokernag while the Kokernag Development Authority (KDA) fails to act and keeps a mute spectator on the illegal construction.
Arising State recently filed a story on the illegal construction at kokernag with the headline titled “Illegal construction continue at tourist place kokernag, Authorities keeps mum”.
Sources told to Arising State that the illegal constructions are underway in several places, including Hangal Gund, area falling within the jurisdiction of the Kokernag Development Authority.
The illegal construction goes under the nose of KDA kokernag Development Authority, they said, adding that the violators have no proper permission from the concerned departments, neither from the Kokernag Development Authority nor have any Town planner NOC resulting in violation of norms in broad daylight.
The Kokernag Development Authority has been given free hand to the violators, the time will come very soon when the tourist place will convert into the concrete jungle, top sources said.
As per reliable sources: “Some people who want to do some construction while getting all NOCs from different departments except the permission from KDA, because the Meeting of BOCA not held since the implementation of Master plan at Kokernag in 2014.”
However, Talking to Arising State, SDM Kokernag Suhail Ahmad said that the tourist place Kokernag needs to be more developed, while the concern departments should take concrete steps for boosting the tourism sector here.
“We took action few days back after media reports about the illegal construction at tourist place kokernag, a few people who want to do construction here came to my office with NOCs from almost all departments except the permission of (KDA) Kokernag Development Authority,” he said
“It is very unfortunate that the not a single BOCA meeting has been held here so far since the implementation of BOCA, resulting in problems to local people here,” he further said, adding that he has written to the higher ups regarding the issue, and hoped the issue will be resolved soon.
