World AIDS Day observed at District Jail Anantnag
Anantnag: On 1st December 2023, World AIDS Day was Observed at District Jail in South Kashmir’s Anantnag. The Program was organised by NCPI+ a sub recipient of SAATHII (Solidarity and action against the HIV infection in India) Organisation by the project Subhiksha+ under the guidance of Jammu and Kashmir AIDS control society. The project is running allover Indian jails for HIV, TB testing and treatment services.
The Program started with a welcome by Superintendent of Jail, following which Ajaz Gani, PPM Kashmir zone conducted detailed session on HIV/AIDS, background details of the disease, world as well as Indian scenario and Jammu and Kashmir status in the same field.
Besides that, Inmates were awared about the virus, its modes of transmission, causes, treatment as well as other aspects of the Disease. Meanwhile, a writing competition was also held on the same topic (HIV/AIDS), in which a good number of inmates participated in the competition, and thoroughly wrote on the same topic.
At the end of programme, an award giving function took place in which the first three toppers of the competition were awarded with prizes.
The special guest on the occasion was the Superintendent concerned. The other guests who grace the program were the Medical Officer of the prison, two Deputy Superintendents, Jailer, chief warden and other staff members of the Jail.
