Shop used in Deepak Kumar murder case attached

In a major crackdown against terrorism, the District Police Anantnag has attached a shop named “The Game Modification” situated at Zirpara Bijbehara, which was used by terrorists to plan and execute the murder of a migrant labourer, Deepak Kumar.

On the evening of May 29, 2023, terrorists opened fire on Deepak Kumar near Amusement Park Janglatmandi, causing serious and fatal injuries. He succumbed to his injuries at the Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag.

The police immediately registered an FIR (First Information Report) under sections 7/27 of the Indian Arms Act, section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and sections 16, 18, 20, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

During the course of the investigation, six terrorists were arrested, all of whom were affiliated with the Kashmir Freedom Fighter (KFF), an offshoot of the proscribed terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM).

The arrested terrorists have been identified as:

  • Sehran Bashir Nadaf, son of Bashir Ahmad Nadaf, a resident of Shirpora Deva Colony
  • Ubaid Nazir Laigroo, son of Nazir Ahmad Laigroo, a resident of Shirpora New Colony
  • Umer Amin Thoker, son of Mohd Amin, a resident of Waghama
  • Huzaif Shabir Bhat, son of Shabir Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Wachi Shopian
  • Nasir Farooq Shah, son of Farooq Ahmad Shah, a resident of Wanteng Mohalla Bijbehara
  • Suveed Showkat Bhat, son of Lt Showkat Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Fatehpora

The police have also attached the shop “The Game Modification” under section 25 of the UAPA. The shop was allegedly used by the terrorists to plan and execute the murder of Deepak Kumar.

This is a major step in the fight against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. The police are determined to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice.
