At least 19 people detained during nocturnal raids in south Kashmir’s Pulwama

More than 15  persons were picked up by the security forces from three villages of the south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday night.

The security forces raided Gudoora, Newa and Parigam villages of the district in the intervening night of Tuesday and detained 19 persons,according to the sources.

An official from police said the arrestees were being quizzed for their alleged role in various stone pelting incidents in the area.

On Monday night as many as 21 people were arrested by the forces from Murran village of the district.

The detention spree comes days ahead of polls in the twin volatile districts of Shopian and Pulwama  are seen as militancy hotbeds in south Kashmir. It is for the first time that the Election Commission has divided polls for APC in three phases.
