Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations Kickstarted at GDC Tral

Pulwama: As part of  the Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations (12th September, 2023 to 2nd October, 2023), Department of History in collaboration with Department of Computer Applications of Government Degree College Tral today on 12th September, 2023 organized screening of a documentary on the life and works of M. K. Gandhi.
Kickstarting the celebrations , the worthy principal of the college Prof (Dr.) Mushtaq Ahmad Malik  threw light on Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas, beliefs, and philosophy and reaffirmed that Gandhiji was a charismatic leader who practiced what he preached.
The  Principal further emphasized how Gandhiji used his moral weapon of non-violence against the colonial Britishers  in India, and urged upon the staff and students to get lessons from the Gandhian ideals of peace, honesty, integrity, and responsibility.
Dr. Fehmida Wani, Head Department of History spoke about the teachings of MK  Gandhi who guided  his people through an organized and disciplined campaign of non-violent civil disobedience.
She also said that this documentary reminds us of  the sacrifices of thousands of brave people who laid their lives to pave the path for us to progress and prosperity. The students  along with the staff enthusiastically watched  the documentary.
Prof. Ishaq Ahmad Wani, Head Department of English, also threw light on the works and contribution of Gandhiji in the Freedom Movement of India. He also  deliberated upon Gandhian  principles of Non- violence and satyagraha.
The audience appreciated the inspirational documentary  and gained knowledge about the individuals responsible for the struggle for India’s independence. Vote of Thanks was proposed by Prof. Syeda Laila Khalid, Convener Debates, Seminars and Cultural Committee.
