Crackdown continues against illegal mining in Pulwama

Authorities seize 2 JCBs and Tractors at Awantipora

Pulwama, 1st September: In continuation to its efforts to curb illegal mining, Tehsildar Awantipora along with officials from Geology and Mining Department carried out a series of raids against illegal mining in twin places of Awantipora and Malangpora of Pulwama district.

Following strict orders from Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, The team headed by Tehsildar Awantipora conducted raids on several locations. Several vehicles engaged in illegal transportation of minor minerals were confiscated.

Earlier upon receiving inputs of soil excavation going on at Malangpora, the team reached on spot . During the raid a JCB was caught on spot & handed over to officials of Geology and Mining Department for seizure.

In continuation to this series,raids were carried out at Barsoo,Awantipora as well wherein JCB along with Tractor was caught on spot followed with action by officials from Mining Department.

It is pertinent to mention here that District Adminstration Pulwama has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals and people involved in the illegal trade shall be dealt with sternly under relevant provision of law.

The locals were also briefed to alert the administration of all illegal mining activities so that strict action could be initiated against those involved in this .
