NSS, SMVDU planted 75 saplings to celebrate 75 years of Independence
Jammu: NSS Unit of SMVD University initiated the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign to celebrate 75 years of Independence. The event was organized in collaboration with the Wildlife Conservation Fund, J&K and Department of Social Forestry, Udhampur. During the event a ‘Amrit Vatika’ was created in the University premises by planting 75 saplings .
The Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, Prof. Pragati Kumar, was the chief guest for the event. The event started with Panch Pran pledging by the NSS volunteer, Sadhvi Sharma and awareness rally by the NSS volunteers.
The saplings planted were mainly medicinal and Hybrid fruit indigenous in nature. Around 100 NSS volunteers actively participated in the event. The event ended with refreshment distribution to the volunteers.
The VC, SMVDU, appreciated the efforts of the NSS team. Senior faculty, Dr. Ankush Anand, Mr. Dheeraj Thapa Director, Wildlife Conservation Fund, J&K, Security Officer, Mr. Mithun Jamwal, and other faculty and staff members were also present during the event.
The NSS Programme Coordinator, Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Co-coordinator, Dr. Kamaldeep thanked all the participants and University authorities for supporting the plantation drive.
