Alleged Molestation Incident at GMC Anantnag: Accused Apprehended

Anantnag 07 July: An incident of alleged molestation occurred at GMC Anantnag on Monday, June 26, last week, leaving the victim and her family traumatized. The accused, who impersonated a doctor, attempted to molest a female patient during her hospital stay, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The victim, whose identity has been withheld, had been admitted to GMC Hospital Anantnag due to a poisoning incident. On that fateful Monday, as the patient’s concerned family members visited her, they discovered the accused in the act of molesting her. Swiftly responding to the situation, the family members apprehended the accused before alerting the hospital authorities and reporting the matter to the police.

Principal of GMC Anantnag, Syed Tariq Qureshi, confirmed the incident and emphasized that the accused was neither a doctor nor an employee of the hospital. Principal Qureshi stated that the hospital had diligently treated the patient for poisoning, and while she was under their care, an individual posing as a doctor attempted to molest her. The hospital’s security guards promptly intervened, apprehended the accused, and handed him over to the police.

Subsequently, the police have lodged an FIR (First Information Report) under sections 199/2023 U/S 354 and 354A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). An investigation into the matter is currently underway to ensure that justice is served.
