Srinagar, Apr 21 : Thousands of devotees from across the Kashmir Valley on Friday offered Jumat-ul-Vida prayers at historic Jama Masjif Srinagar.
In a statement issued Anjuman Auqaf claimed that people were, however, disappointed as Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq continues to remain under house detention.
Anjuman also conveyed the message of Umar Farooq appealing to people to celebrate Eid with simplicity and according to Islamic teachings. They were urged to remember poor, needy, backward, and disadvantaged people of society in the festivities.
It also expressed resentment over the continuous detention of Umar Farooq and urged the authorities to release him before Eid.
Meanwhile, Anjuman said that the Eid prayers will be offered after 3 years at Jama Masjid and the prayer will be offered at 09:00 am.
It also urged people to come before time and show Islamic unity and discipline on the occasion.(KNS)
