Block Divas held in Drabgam Pulwama
Massive participation of people in Block Diwas is a reflection of the Peoples confidence in Government and Administration: DC Pulwama
Pulwama, April 12, 2023: District Administration Pulwama today held Block Divas at Eidgah Drabgam-A to assess the local issues and listen to the grievances of the people for speedy disposal of the same with the intervention of senior government officers and representatives of panchayat institutions.
DC Pulwama spent the whole day in Drabgam and redressed hundreds of grievances on the spot.
Speaking on the occasion, District Development Commissioner Pulwama Shri Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary said that Block Diwas is bringing the governance at doorsteps. He said that the permanent nature of Block Diwas is to ensure effective service delivery to the public by different departments, besides evolving a vibrant mechanism for on the spot redressal of public grievances besides re-affirming the commitment of the government for an accessible administration.
Several public issues including road connectivity to uncovered areas, macadamization of interior roads, availability of sports stadium/ playground for youth, establishment of Post office, Boundary wall around higher secondary school, completion of under construction building in HSS, providing of bore well and better drinking water facilities for students and for the whole area, allopathic primary health Centre in the area, establishment of timber sale depot, Bridge at Nallah Romshi, development of irrigation khul and augmentation of the health infrastructure were projected by the local people and PRIs.
The DC gave a patient hearing to the grievances raised and assured quality disposal of genuine issues in a time-bound manner. After listening to the local issues, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned department heads/ officers to resolve the same expeditiously and submit the action taken report before next scheduled block divas. The various hurdles and bottlenecks in the social security schemes were also resolved on the spot with the convergence of multiple Departments.
He also gave on-the-spot directions for the redressal of many issues of urgent nature as per the competence of concerned Departments.
The DC further added that District Administration is ensuring to provide all facilities to the people at their doorsteps and in this regard necessary instructions are already given to line departments, he added.
While interacting with the Local people, Sarpanchs, Panchs, and the delegations, the DDC said that the Block Diwas is being organized across the length and breadth of the District Pulwama, with the sole objective to provide more transparent, accountable, public-friendly and responsive administration to the people. “This initiative of the Government and Administration is contributing immensely to good governance”, DC said.
He was accompanied by Additional District Development Commissioner Dr Sheikh Abdul Aziz, ASP Pulwama, DDC Members, PRIs, ACD Pulwama, ACP Pulwama, SE KPDCL, Ex-En KPDCL, CMO Pulwama, CAHO Pulwama, Officers from Agriculture and Horticulture Deptts, Tehsildar Rajpora, BDO Shadimarg, and all other District officers.
The DC further said that Block Diwas is observed to take an appraisal of local issues from the general public for accurate and on-ground assessment and redressal of the same thereby providing governance to the public at their doorsteps.
On the occasion, DDC said that Block Divas is a regular feature now and appealed to people to become active participants so that the issues of daily importance are redressed in the minimum possible time. He highlighted the objectives of the various governmental programmes informing the public that these schemes and campaigns are aimed at reaching out to the people for redressal of their grievances and addressing developmental issues.
The DDC, on the occasion, encouraged the participants to highlight their individual issues also to avoid their visits to government offices. He directed the District and sectoral officers to ensure service counter of their respective Departments at Block Diwas meetings so that the public can reap the benefits of different government schemes without visiting offices repeatedly.
The DDC directed the concerned officers to exhort for the completion of ongoing projects, Roads & bridges. He urged officers to complete the work within the shortest possible time.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the concerned officers to be proactive and remain accessible to the people so that the purpose of the initiative is fulfilled.
Speaking on the occasion, officers/ officials from various departments aware the general public about the various government sponsored schemes and urged people to take benefits from them.
Thousands of people hailing from across the Block who attended the program and put forth their issues relating to the problems they are facing thanked the Deputy Commissioner for on spot resolution of most of their issues, besides assuring them of the resolution and permanent solution of all their issues and problems.
Pertinent to mention here that Deputy commissioner Pulwama stressed on the eradication of drug abuse from the area. He stressed on the people, elders, youth and the students to take every possible step to keep away from away. Speaking about drug abuse, DC said that Drug not only kills youth but exterminates families.
DC alongwith the whole gathering pledged to keep our youth away from drugs.
Moreover, Social welfare Deptt, Officers from Health Department and local students alao spoke about the ill hazards of drug addiction and motivated the people to keep vigil of their children, so that the menace can be eradicated from society. Students were displaying placards, urging the youth, administration, civil society to curb the drug menace in the area.
