Army Major injured in Kupwara succumbs

An army Major who was critically injured after after he slipped into a deep gorge in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district died at a military hospital in Srinagar on Sunday.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara Ambarkar Shriram Dinkar said that the officer of Major rank succumbed at the army’s 92 base hospital in Badamibagh today afternoon as according to a local news agency.The deceased army major was identified as Vikash Singh (30) of 57 RR A Coy.

The Army Major was injured after he slipped into the gorge during a patrol in Kumkadi area of Haihama adjacent to Machil sector along the Line of Control (LoC) late last night.
