Anantnag: Farmers from several villages in Anantnag District have expressed their concern over a lack of urea fertilizer, urging officials to ensure adequate supplies of urea for farmers in the district.

A number of farmers from various villages have complained that they are experiencing shortages of chemical urea fertilizer, which is widely used in agriculture due to its high nitrogen content, which is an essential macronutrient for the growth and development of plants.

Abdul Rasheed Dar, a resident of Anantnag village in Kashmir valley told Arising state that this is the peak season for farming in Kashmir valley and the district is facing a severe shortage of urea fertilizer at the moment. ‘We have approached the concerned department and informed them that there is a shortage of urea in the market due to the increase in demand for the chemical fertilizer urea .Despite the fact that they had complained several times to the concerned department of Anantnag, nothing has been done to address the issue as of yet, said Rasheed.’ There has been a sudden shortage of fertilizers in the month of April, which is a crucial period in the farming season, causing a heavy burden for farmers, he further said.

The farmers, however ,have urged the authorities to ensure that an adequate amount of Urea should be made available in the market, in the meantime.
