Anantnag: Three students from a government-model high school in the Marhama area in the Anantnag district of south Kashmir developed the world’s cheapest egg incubator for the poultry industry in Kashmir valley,

All three – Hadi Reyaz, Gowhar Ahmad Tantray, and Basit Ahmad Dar – have been classmates since childhood and study at Government Model Higher Secondary School Marhama together in class 11th. Their idea to develop the incubator came to them when they studied in the 9th grade at Madrassa Taleemul Islam in Marhama two years ago.

( World’s cheapest incubator.)

We had a dream to develop the cheapest incubator when we were in class 9th, Hadi Reyaz told Arising state. As a result of a lack of supplies and power outages, we were unable to complete the project, he said. Also, after we finished 10th standard last year, we revived the project at Government Model Higher Secondary School at Marhama Anantnag where we overcame all obstacles and created the cheapest device.

Hadi is among the two classmates who have developed this low cost and cheapest egg incubator in school.

As Hadi describes it, the journey to build the incubator wasn’t smooth for the three friends. Three years ago, we attempted to make a portable egg incubator, but we failed.

We were successful in developing the incubator after attending GHSS Marhama where our teachers set up an ATAL Tinkering Lab, providing us with everything we needed.

This work was done under the supervision of their teacher and school administration.

We have completed this project under the guidance of our information technology lecturer Adil Bashir Wani who is also in charge of the ATL lab in school, said Hadi.

Furthermore, we have received help and encouragement from the school authorities as they have provided us with electricity from their solar power system. Throughout the hatching process, the school authorities ensured an uninterrupted power supply to the incubator, as Hadi puts it.

An egg incubator requires a continuous power supply for nearly 3 weeks to complete the whole process.

The incubator can hatch about 400 eggs at one time. It provides a suitable temperature of 38 degrees required for hatching and takes 18 to 22 days for the whole process to complete. This egg incubator was developed within two months,he said.

Talking to Arising state, Adil Bashir wani, IT lecturer in school said that the Atal Tinkering Lab ATL is truly a remarkable platform that has been brought by the government together with the key stakeholders of driving innovation in India. Taking these innovations forward is the aim of this platform, which identifies such innovations by young talented Indians who are solving pressing community challenges.

Four months ago we established the ATL lab in school and told the students that anyone with an innovation idea could do research in the lab. Gowhar Ahmad Tantray, the team leader, came up with this idea with two more classmates and we asked them to proceed and provided them with ATL lab facilities. After two months the result of their research came out and finally all three students succeeded to innovate this cheapest incubator, he said.

ATLs have been established at schools across India under the Atal Innovation Mission of the NITI Ayog with a vision to cultivate one million neoteric innovators in India, he explained.

We used easily available materials and filament bulbs to make this incubator, said Gowhar Ahmad Tantray, who is among the three students who invented the incubator. There are incubators on the market, but their prices start at over 30 thousand. The cheapest incubator we invented will cost just Rs 2 to 3 thousand only, which will greatly benefit people in the poultry industry. According to him, we will make more incubators so that they can be marketed and sold at the lowest prices.

This method can be used for making more incubators and hatching more eggs , according to these young students.

They further stated that with this innovation it’s possible to hatch up to 400 eggs using 1 incubator. Apart from this egg incubator, these students also want to make automatic and semi-automatic incubators.
