Budgam Police arrests 02 drug peddlers; Contraband substance recovered

JULY 17: Continuing its efforts to rein in the menace of drugs from the society, Budgam Police arrested 02 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

During routine naka checking near tehsil office Beerwah, police party of PS Beerwah intercepted one vehicle (Tavera) bearing registration no. *JK14 C 5584* coming from Beerwah towards Magam. During preliminary questioning the driver disclosed his name as *Mushtaq Ahmad Dar son of Habibullah Dar resident of Gundipora Beerwah and his accomplice as Kaleemullah Bhat son of Farooq Ahmad Bhat resident of Charangam*. During search of the vehicle, cannabis like substance *(charas) weighing about 12 grams and semi-grinded poppy straw (fukki) 6 Kgs was recovered* from their possession. Both the accused have been arrested.*Vehicle used for commission of crime has also been seized*.

Accordingly ,case FIR NO.*95 /2022* under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Beerwah and investigation taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
