Spice Jet cancels 14 flights,aviation ministry to hold meeting at 4PM
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has called for a meeting with all airlines at 4 pm on Wednesday, 13 March, to prepare a contingency plan as a number of flights have been cancelled following the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, a senior government official told PTI.
On Wednesday morning, airline SpiceJet said that it had suspended Boeing 737 MAX operations following the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DGCA) decision to ground the aircraft.
Air safety regulators in at least 40 countries have either grounded Boeing 737 MAX planes or banned them from their airspace after the 10 March crash in Ethiopia.
