Budgam Police arrests drug peddler; Contraband substance recovered

BUDGAM 30th April 2022: Continuing its efforts to rein in the menace of drugs from the society, Budgam police arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

During Naka checking at Bathar Budgam, police party of Police Station Budgam intercepted a vehicle (ZEN) bearing registration number JKO1J-1987 with one person onboard which was coming from Khomeni chowk towards Narkara , when police party signalled the driver to stop, he tried to flee from the spot, but was tactfully chased and overpowered. He has been identified as Adil Manzoor Paul@ Zaffer son of Manzoor Ahmed Paul resident of Narkara Budgam During search, apparently 6.40 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.The drug peddler has been arrested and shifted to police station Budgam where he remains in custody. Besides, vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 126/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation set into motion.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
