South Kashmir: Gunfight rages in Anantnag,soldier killed

Srinagar, April 16 : Encounter broke out im wee hours between militants and government forces in Watnar Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district Saturday.

Reports said that a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Kokernag.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight. Meanwhile reports reaching say that one soldier has been killed in the ensuing battle,the army solidier identified as Nasheen received critical injuries and succmbed in hospital later.

A senior police officer also confirmed  about exchange of firing between militants and security forces.(KNO)
