Baisakhi celebrated with religious fervour, gaiety across J&K

The famous Sikh festival of Baisakhi is being celebrated across Kashmir today. The spring festival is being celebrated by the Sikh population with traditional and religious fervour.On this  occasion of Baisakhi, the main congregation was held in Chatti Patshahi in Rainawari area of Srinagar.Scores of sikh community people thronged the place from morning .

As the weather was pleasant in the morning members of the Sikh community, including women and children, were seen  in colourful dresses visiting Gurdwaras since early this morning.

Special prayers were held in the Gurdwara, where a langar was also established for the devotees. Muslims were seen greeting their Sikh brethren on the occasion.

Similar prayer meetings were also reported  in other parts of the Kashmir valley, including Tral, Baramulla, Pattan and Barzulla.

The festival of Baisakhi marks the onset of the spring season. Vaisakhi or Baisakhi is also known as the harvest season of India. Every year, Baisakhi is either celebrated on the 13th or 14th of April. This year, Baisakhi is being celebrated today on April 14. The festival of Baisakhi is celebrated with great joy and fervour in the state of Punjab and Haryana. The day also marks the beginning of a New Year.
