GDC Tral Organized One-Day Awareness Programme
Tral: An awareness programme cum seminar under POSHAN Abhiyan was organized by NSS units of GDC Tral in collaboration with Sub-District Hospital Tral.
The programme was conducted with an aim to sensitize the students and faculty about malnutritional issues, which started with introductory remarks by Aadil Rehman (Assistant Professor, Commerce) who talked at length about the need for involving higher education institutions so as ensure successful implementation of this flagship programme at grassroot level.
In her welcome address, Dr Fahmida Wani, Head, Department of History stressed that nutritional food guarantees physical and mental well-being of children. She talked about the health issues that one may face if nutritional requirements are not taken care of.
The Programme was inaugurated by Prof. Shakeel Ahmad Khanday, Head, Department of Physics. In his talk, he gave a comprehensive outline of Anaemia.
He emphasized how lack of proper nutrients in the food will lead to different health issues. He also talked about the ways by which this disease could be cured.
The highlight of the programme was an expert talk by Mr Nazir Ahmad Bhat, Community Health Officer, SDH Tral. In his presentation, he discussed about the causes and treatments of Anaemia. He also stressed on the need to engage community for better results. It was resolved that under the able leadership of worthy Principal, Prof.(Dr.) Mohammad Farooq Mir, the college will leave no stone unturned to address the challenges on account of malnutrition.
The programme was moderated by Aadil Rehman and vote of thanks was proposed by Prof.Ishaq Ahmad Wani, Head, Department of English, while the overall programme was coordinated by Prof.Mohd Syed Lone.
