Srinagar, Mar 28:
The career of over a dozen students is at stake as the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute has stopped releasing sanctioned education loan installment to fund their fees at their respective colleges. A delegation of aggrieved parents said that, ironically, the Institute is now turning away from its responsibility to release the education loan installments already sanctioned years ago.
The aggrieved parents whose children are studying outside their country said they had never seen such a callous approach of the Institute.
“JKEDI usually used to call us for the collection of education loan instalment cheques, but due to unknown reasons, the instalments of our cases are not being released and that too of our already sanctioned cases,” said a parent, wishing anonymity.
The parents are accusing the administration of the adverse conditions they are facing today. One of the parents said, “our children are studying in their 4th year outside state, and when I got the call from college authorities about the year fee, I went to the EDI district office, where I heard about unnecessary pending of already sanctioned case instalments that has increased a cause for concern.”
They further accused the administration of being indifferent to the situation of J&K’s youth, who aspire to study and bring laurels. The parents have appealed to the Lieutenant Governor administration to direct the JKEDI authorities to release the remaining instalments of sanctioned education loans so that the students who are in their last year of degree don’t suffer.
