JKLF Protests against NIA raids and ban on JeI

A protest demonstration was carried out by Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, on Friday, in Srinagar on call of JRL against the ban on Jamaat-e-islami and the NIA raids on separatist leaders.

Scores of JKLF supporters and activists assembled at Maisuma soon after the Friday prayers and held a protest demonstration against the recent NIA raids on JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik and Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. The protesters while raising anti-India slogans condemned the banning of Jama’at by Ministry of Home Affairs.

The government of India Thursday banned Kashmir’s socio-religious organisation Jamaat-e-Islami, days after arresting scores of its members in a massive crackdown by the police.

The ban order, issued by the union home ministry this evening, said that the JeI has been “indulging in activities which are prejudicial to internal security and public order and (have) potential of disrupting the unity and integrity of the country”.
