Vertical garden, Selfie point become attraction points in Jammu
Jammu: The two famous projects Selfie point and vertical garden setup by Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) have become attraction points in Jammu as people including tourists are clicking photos with them to create fond memories with the city of temples.People especially youngsters sharing their pictures with vertical garden and first ever selfie point- ‘I Love Jammu’ on their social media profiles.Appreciating the Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) for the initiative of selfie point, a visitor said this added a fascinating look to the city of temple.“We get a new junction point to make reels, Instagram stories and Facebook posts,” a young visitor said.Another social media user tweeted a photograph with “I Love You Jammu” logo in the background and asked other citizens have you clicked the selfie with this.The first ever selfie point, ‘I Love Jammu’ at B. C Road, Jammu, was inaugurated by Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), AnvyLavasa, The ‘I Love (heart symbols) Jammu’ in red colour is featured on the top with the painting of bridges along with mountains in background finds place in the structure of selfie point installed at B. C. Road Jammu.The selfie point is part of a project initiated by Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) and Project Consultancy Company (PMC) for the improvement of road from DograChowk to KC Chowk.Similarly, the first of its kind vertical garden not only attracts visitors but also helps to maintain the ecological balance in the city.“The project is adding greenery along with mesmerising looks to the city. It will also be an attraction for the visitors and spread environmental awareness among them,” a visitor said. “The vertical garden will also help in controlling air pollution. Earlier people used to throw garbage here but now this place is clean as well as green and attracts everyone’s attention,” he added.Another visitor said that the hanging garden is looking very beautiful and attracting passers-by as 12 different species of plants are grown in the vertical garden. Under the project, plants of 12 different species are planted vertically on the 50 pillars of flyovers between, Dogra Chowk and K C Chowk at B. C. Road, Jammu. The 12 different plant species included Schefflera Arboricola, Epipremnum Aureum, Syngonium Podophyllum, Dianella Tasmanica Variegata, Ophiopogonjaponicus ‘Variegated’, Chlorophytum Comosum, Setcreasea Purpurea, Pilea Microphylia, Roheo Spathacea, polystichummunitum-Sword Fern, Tradescantia Zebrina and Asparagus Densiflorus Sprengeri.The project also included, water curtains, a drip irrigation system, 2 bore well, four underground water tanks with the capacity of 5200 litres each, and two arched gatesThe project worth Rs 380.44 Lacs was executed by Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) and Project Management Consultancy (PMC). The project executing agency was also tasked to maintain the garden for three years. The work on the project was started in August 2020 and completed within a stipulated time frame of 10 months.The capital cities Jammu and Srinagar have been chosen under Smart City Projects and various initiatives being taken by the authorities under the Smart City Project as the city is completely transforming during the last couple of months as far as cleanliness and beautification are concerned.
