Female Kashmiri farmer interacts with PM on progressive farming
Srinagar, Sep 29 : In an interaction meeting on 75th Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav with Prime Minister, Narinder Modi, on 28th of September, 2021 a progressive farmer from Chount Waliwar Ganderbal under AICRP-Agroforestry, Faculty of Forestry SKUAST-Kashmir Mrs. Zaitoona Begum, highlighted the role of AICRP-AF for active support in distribution of planting material, fodder seeds, agricultural tool kits apart from scientific inputs. She highlighted the role of this centre for increasing the fodder grass production using quality seed material which had an immense impact on the live stock and milk production in the village.
The progressive farmer was very much satisfied with the development of various agroforestry models, which had integrated fruit plants, forest tree species, fodder crops, poultry and other livestock for increasing the income of ST population in the region.
During the interaction she also requested Honorable PM, for increasing these distribution facilities and other support to other stakeholders of the region apart from ST Population. Dr. T. H. Masoodi, Dean Faculty of Forestry congratulated Dr. G. M. Bhat and Dr. Megna Rashid for their active role and support for working tirelessly for the welfare of the farming community in the region particularly the adopted village. Dr. Masoodi also appreciated the role of ICAR-CAFRI, Jhansi for providing financial support under TSP for adopting this village.
